Many people associate snails with French or Spanish cuisine, It is not well known that our Slavic ancestors used to eat dishes prepared from snails on a regular basis. According to historical sources, the first snail dishes appeared in XVII century and were more popular then than pork, what is confirmed in the oldest Polish cookbook (Compendium ferculorum) published in 1682 by Stanisław Czarniecki.
In Snail Bistro you can try original dishes, do shopping or relax outdoors with a cup of coffee and a delicious dessert. At the heart of the farm there is a house in the shape of snail -the house walls are made of clay and straw and the roof is made of oak shingle, It is a symbol of the Snails Garden farm. Snails Bistro have attractions for the youngsters as well such as: snail races, mini zoo with ponies and the smallest sheep in the world.
The family run company of Mariola and Grzegorz Skalmowski produce white caviar and specialize in snail farming and processing. Thanks to their experience and knowledge Skalmowskis have been the first to develop not only the snail breeding sector but the food sector too. Since 2003 they have been combining traditional Polish cuisine with innovative snail dishes.
Thanks to an increasing interest in snails, Skalmowskis have started to produce and sell snails from their own farm. Their surnames are known in the whole of Poland and they have been awarded by the World Food Travel Association from the U.S.A in the category of Best Farm and Farmers’ Market Experience.
